World Theragnostics Day

A picture is worth a thousand words. Here is one that really lives up to the saying. The theragnostic concept has existed for a long time, but interest in it has exploded in recent years.

The picture shows the number of publications on Pubmed.gov, including the word ‘theragnostics’. In 2003, there were only 278 articles. Twenty years later, 22,257 articles were published on this topic.

Why March 31st?

The first radioiodine treatment was administered by Dr. Saul Hertz at Massachusetts General Hospital as early as 1941. The date was March 31st, which also marks the annual celebration of World Theragnostics Day! ☢
