SAM Nordic is proud to present our newest addition to our Board of Directors. Sofia’s previous experience includes several leading positions within Med Tech companies, Medical devices, and Health care. Sofia was the CEO of reputable Hermes Medical Solutions, a Board member at a Swedish biometrics company; Fingerprint Cards, and Research Engineer at Swerea KIMAB, to name a few.

We had a little chat about what interests her in SAM Nordic and what she believes she will contribute as a board member.

Hello Sofia! So great to have you on board. How did you end up at SAM Nordic?

Isabell and I have met during the years at numerous Nuclear Medicine meetings whilst I was active in Hermes Medical Solutions and both took a joint customer perspective while still focusing on our companies’ respective strengths, such as Pharmaca for SAM Nordic and Software for processing for Hermes. When SAM Nordic was seeking expansion of their board, Isabell called me and asked if I would be interested to apply for the position – which I definitely was.

To be honest, being asked to join the board of a company is a compliment and an honor. But Isabell did not choose you out of courtesy, you come from a vast experience within Med Tech and Biometrics for instance. What do you bring to the table?

I have worked in Med Tech and Functional Imaging since 2006. The customers spanned from larger University Hospitals to small clinics worldwide supporting their everyday work as well as their research with software for image processing (SPECT PET CT MRI). This brings a network of both initializing hospitals and the ones with a greater need for more specialised support as they might not have internal competencies and still have a desire, and need, to offer complex treatments. The last years’ rise in start-ups within our field supports the need for innovative companies to work with already established companies to get treatments distributed and accessible to patients. The challenge today is to get the research out!

What is the most valuable thing you learned, so far, in your career?
What I learned and got verified is the value of the “true” customer focus, being in their reality and understanding their challenges. Have fun together as a team of employees and customers, you have a mission, to help patients to a better life.

Last, do not be afraid to partner up with other companies to leverage each other’s strengths, save time, and lower the cost of go-to-market.

Where are you most likely found, when not working?
Spending time with friends and family, riding, sailing, skiing, and playing board games.
